Contacts and lists

Your contacts are the people you reach. Good outreach starts with a clean, well-organized list. This page shows you how to build one.

Adding contacts

Import a spreadsheet

The quickest way to add many people is to import a CSV or connect a Google Sheet. During import you map each column in your file to a field in OSENBOLT, such as email, full name, company, and job title. The email column is required. Take a moment to map the others too, because they power personalization later.

Add people one at a time

For a handful of contacts, add them directly from the Contacts page. This is handy when a lead comes in and you want to reach out right away.

Keeping your data clean

Clean data is the single biggest factor in good deliverability. A list full of old or guessed addresses produces bounces, and too many bounces damage your sender reputation.

  • Remove obvious role addresses like info@ or sales@ unless they are genuinely the right person.
  • Check for duplicates before you import. OSENBOLT will skip a contact that already exists.
  • When a contact hard bounces, OSENBOLT marks it invalid and stops sending. You can correct the address and recover it later.

Recovering a bounced contact

If an address bounced because of a typo, edit it on the Contacts page and re-queue the person into their campaigns. OSENBOLT resets the enrollment so the sequence can resume.

Organizing with tags and segments

Tags are simple labels you attach to contacts, such as a trade show name or a region. Segments are saved groups built from a rule, such as everyone whose company contains a keyword. Both let you target the right people when you build a campaign, without rebuilding a list each time.

Personalization

The details you store on a contact can be dropped into your emails, so a message can greet someone by name or mention their company. The more complete your data, the more natural your personalization reads. Always send a test to yourself to confirm every field fills in correctly before you start a campaign. See Campaigns and sequences.

Your responsibilities as a sender

You are responsible for having a valid reason to contact the people on your list. For B2B outreach in the EU, this is often a legitimate interest where your message is relevant to the person's job. Other regions have their own rules. The Security and privacy guide and our Privacy Policy explain this in more depth.
